Happy Independence Day

Shackles hold us to our mother land, and tax us half to death.
Power reaches across the pond, and leaves us feeling inept.
We’ve slave and fought, been sent away, been told to do or die.
We’re tired of the harsh demands, oh come, all of us, To arms, let’s fight.
Bombs to the left of us, and bombs to the right of us, Cannon fire was the norm for months.
And then one night, under bright star light, sweet and soulful words were spun.
The words were of victory, of pride, of love so alive
Of lives, that were lost, and begun.
I swear here tells America’s well. \
Our fight is now over, we won.

Oh say can you see by the dawn’s early light?
What so proudly we hailed, at the twilight’s last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight
O’er the rampart’s we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave?
O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
